Often times we lose sight of the small, happy things in life. They may be quick and fleeting, or often overlooked. They create that warm feeling in your chest. But trying to keep them in focus amidst struggle can help keep things in perspective for me. I am trying to do that right now.
When I’m writing a good piece and I can feel it
Laughing with friends until my stomach hurts
Breaking a rule that I disagree with
Watching a birth
Grace
Eating well
Car rides with Grace listening to music
Both of my dogs laying on me at once
When Elouise burrows her head into my neck
Talking about music with people who like the same music
Finally grasping a concept
Getting to know someone better and having that moment of comfort with them
A good workout
When things go according to plan
Smoothies
Crossing something off my to-do list
Buffalo Mac and Cheese (especially from Blu Wolf)
Finding a vinyl I’ve been looking for
The way that pen indents feel on a paper
Feeling like I have influence
Fighting for things I believe in, even in a small way (like not shopping at Chick Fil A or Hobby Lobby)
My parents
My hair
Things that remind me of my grandma
A summer night with friends
Feeling like I’m making progress towards my goals
Being comfortable with something that used to be uncomfortable
Learning
New earrings
When the perfect song comes on the radio
Deep conversations
A hug
Playing Wii with Emma and Grace
Reading a book
Car rides with friends
Hugs
Feeling cared about
Getting accepted into something
Being invited to something new
Having all my laundry put away
My shift ending
Traditions, new and old
Reading a good book
Finishing a journal
Taking a good selfie
Being with people I click with
Finishing a semester
Being with my whole family
Feeling valued
My hair tinsel
